German Hygiene Museum in Dresden
About
As one might easily guess from its name, the German Hygiene Museum was established to educate every visitor about human anatomy, medicine, healthy eating, and self-care practices. It also goes by a second name - the Museum of Man.
The institution, founded in 1912 by the renowned entrepreneur August Lingner, marked its 90th anniversary by being featured in the "Blue Book" as the most important national cultural asset of East Germany.
The museum's main exhibition, titled "Adventure - Man," features several glass and wax sculptures in the shape of human figures, as well as anatomical images of internal organs. This way, visitors are vividly informed about the structure of the body and the function of various components of the human organism.
