About
The castle described was several centuries ago a royal residence, and today it is one of the oldest urban structures. Thanks to its central location in the old city, Dresden's castle-residence can rightfully be called the most famous and popular among tourists. This castle was first mentioned at the end of the thirteenth century, and the fifteenth century began its evolutionary path to its modern appearance. The castle took on its final appearance only at the beginning of the last century. However, in 1945, the castle-residence was almost completely destroyed, and restoration work began only after the reunification of Germany. By 2013, the restoration of the facades was completed, but the internal restoration work continues to this day.
