Military History Museum in Dresden
About
The building that currently houses the military history museum was erected in Dresden in 1877. From its very inception, it was designed in a cohesive architectural style - Neoclassicism. However, after the famous American architect, D. Libeskind, known for his controversial vision of architectural forms, took on its reconstruction, the building gained a rather striking and, at the same time, irritating appearance. The reason for this is that, according to the master's plan, a 30-meter wedge, symbolizing the absurdity of destruction, was perched through its center.
As for the exhibition, it is curated in such a way as to engage both adults and children equally. At the same time, the museum's primary task is not to glorify warfare as an art form or beauty, but rather, to elicit a sense of repulsion towards war and the horrors that accompany it.
