About
The railway station, despite its intended purpose, is considered one of the most magnificent historical landmarks of Dresden. Constructed in 1897 according to the design of three German architects - P. Weinder, E. Giese, and A. Rossbach, it managed to recover from the ruins after being bombed by the allies during World War II. This was aided by reconstruction works, which lasted for over thirty years and concluded in 1980. Another 26 years later, thanks to the diligence of the British architect Norman Foster, the unnecessary obstructions were removed from the building of the Railway Station, facades were restored, and platforms were expanded.
Today, it serves as a connecting point between the largest cities in Germany, serving no less than 50,000 travelers per day.
