About

A place where a significant number of unique paintings are collected at one point is referred to as the Old Masters Gallery. However, this place is more commonly known as the Dresden Gallery, owing to its location. The collection has been assembled since the first half of the 18th century, gradually expanding with each passing year. It is known that in the late 1740s, Francesco Algarotti made a significant contribution by adding a hundred pieces of Russian art to the collection, which subsequently led to global fame.

The modern building of the gallery was erected in the 19th century and is part of the Zwinger. However, the war made its own adjustments to its appearance: the building was heavily damaged, but fortunately, the extensive exhibition was not harmed! Some of it was sent to Moscow for restoration, and before being sent back to its historic homeland, it was displayed at one of the Moscow exhibitions.

War mit Enkeltochter da. Waren beide angetan.
