About
The "Green Vaults" Museum will captivate those who enjoy beholding collections of various jewelry and other treasures made of precious stones and metals. It houses one of the richest collections of jewelry in Europe, with the museum's collection comprising over 4,000 items.
The history of the "Green Vaults" began in the 18th century when Elector Augustus the Strong decided to create a unique collection of works from various religions and cultures. Among the first items to appear here were samples of Turkish weaponry. The museum's exhibition deserves considerable attention for various masterpieces of micro-carving, table clocks, ivory figurines, and rock crystal goblets.
Additionally, it preserves one of the largest diamonds in the world, weighing about 41 carats in total. Overall, the jewelry collection of the "Green Vaults" is predominantly a legacy of the Wettin dynasty.
