About

As sad as it is, but technological progress spared hardly any of the medieval fortifications in Riga, leaving only the Swedish Gates intact. The rest have vanished into oblivion, leaving behind nothing but dust and memories, preserved in chronicles and ancient books.

The Swedish Gates got their name in honor of the soldiers' bravery who valiantly held the defense. Interestingly, it was through these very gates that they left the city. The gates can be found on Tornja Street, allowing visitors to familiarize themselves with the entire complex, which includes several nearby houses. The architectural ensemble, which includes the Swedish Gates, belongs to the Latvian Association of Architects. There's also a large library on the premises that welcomes anyone interested.

瑞典門位於裡加老城區貓屋附近,是該城最初中世紀城牆中唯一殘存的城門,建於1698年。它曾是裡加的入口,歷史悠久.
