About

The Riga Cathedral, located on the square of the same name, is considered the most famous and popular symbol of Riga among tourists. True to its role, prayers are continuously offered in the cathedral sanctuary, and it remains a hub of cultural life in the Latvian capital.

It might be hard to believe, but part of the Riga Cathedral is underground. To reach one of the portals, you need to descend more than a dozen steps. The endless flooding of the Daugava River is to blame, as the responsible citizens would add gravel, gradually "burying" the building. The cathedral is often a gathering place for organ music enthusiasts well acquainted with the works of Liszt and Reger. The architectural image of Riga's most recognizable symbol is complemented by the Cathedral Monastery and the Cross Gallery.

Was für eine Orgel! Unbedingt versuchen, in ein Orgelkonzert zu kommen. 12:00 sind nahezu täglich kurze (20min) Konzerte, kostet 10€, lohnt sich in jedem Fall!!
