About

The Courtyard of the Convent traces its origins back to the times when the Order of Swordbearers protected the Church from encroachments, burning heretics with fire and sword, and bringing truth and repentance. Gradually, from shelters, warehouses, and residential houses, the courtyard transformed into a romantic architectural composition with a rich history.

The modern Courtyard of the Convent is a restored complex bustling with life. Its inner courtyard is fully dedicated to souvenir shops and stores where anyone can find a pleasant trinket to remind them of Riga. Interestingly, the courtyard is locked at night, and this is done at all four of its entrances. Here, you can also find a porcelain museum, several authentic cafés, an antique salon, and even a hotel.
