About

The Pharmacy Museum, which came into existence in 1987, is considered the "younger sibling" of the famous Museum of Medicine History, which immortalizes the memory of the surgeon and oncologist Pauls Stradiņš. Today, anyone interested can learn all about pharmacy by closely examining the exhibits and listening to an engaging story about the challenging path of the industry's development.

The Pharmaceutical Museum includes six halls with three thousand exhibits, formerly part of the personal collections of Stradiņš, Blumenthal, and Maizite. Wandering through the spacious galleries, the roving eye will repeatedly notice unusual pharmacy ware and medications that were in use not so long ago but are hopelessly outdated today. The museum's courtyard is home to a garden of medicinal plants, from which elixirs and tinctures are still made to this day.
