About

Erzsébet Square is one of the central squares of Budapest, as well as the most beloved leisure spot for the capital's crowd that has crossed over into venerable age. It was named after Empress Elisabeth in the year 1858.

Over the years, Erzsébet Square, true to its status as a grande dame, has changed names as if they were lavish dresses. It has been named after Stalin and Engels, but eventually, it reclaimed its former historical self. In its central part is the "Danube" fountain, adorned with three sculptures of women symbolizing the rivers Tisza, Sava, and Drava.
