Heroes' Square is located at the very end of Andrássy Avenue, right before the famous City Park. From the moment its first stone was laid, it has been considered the unofficial center of not just Budapest, but all of Hungary.

In the middle of the square, there is the Millennium Monument, featuring a 118-foot-tall column topped with a statue of Archangel Gabriel. The column is surrounded by numerous sculptures of famous Hungarian figures. It's interesting to note that right after the country joined the EU, massive sand clocks were installed on the outskirts of Heroes' Square, which are turned over on New Year's Eve.
