About

The Royal Palace is often referred to as the Buda Fortress for its steadfast resistance to Turkish raids in the distant seventeenth century. Besides its military role, the palace also served as the residence of kings who convened in its rooms for over seven hundred years.

The building has reached our times in the classic Baroque style, after having gone through many other styles. Such changes are not accidental-with every new destruction and each new ruler, the architecture of the palace changed time and again. Today, the Royal Palace is a cultural center of the capital, and its spacious corridors house the Historical Museum, the national gallery, and the state library.
