About

Just a few blocks from the Central Station lies the famous Grand Place, and on it, the equally famous City Hall. Since the distant fifteenth century, this building, in the ancient Brabantine Gothic style, has been restored several times. Thus, instead of a belfry, a statue of Archangel Michael appeared, and the facade was "studded" with 203 stone carvings of dukes and duchesses of Brabant.

It cannot be said that over the years, the City Hall has lost its original appearance. Each new change only enhanced its beauty, which undoubtedly required sacrifices, receiving them in the form of forever lost details after the French destructions. Today, the City Hall is the center of the city's political life and houses the administration of the entire Belgian capital.
