About
Once every two years, Brussels turns into a real botanical hub of all Europe thanks to the flower carpet that dazzles tourists with its incredible colors and aroma. Precisely 750,000 begonias of different varieties are planted following a specific pattern at the Grand Place, with the design never being repeated.
The choice fell on begonia for one simple reason: it is resistant to any weather conditions and does not even react to the scorching sun. Surprisingly, even the creators of the flower carpet do not know the exact number of begonia varieties used in planting. You can enjoy the extraordinary view from the square or from the balcony of the City Hall of Brussels, where entry is always allowed for a symbolic fee.
