About

Behind an elegant fence on a special pedestal is the most popular attraction of Brussels - the "Manneken Pis" fountain. The statue is cast in bronze and is only 61 centimeters tall. The bronze symbol of Brussels has been continuously stolen since the beginning of the fourteenth century, hence modern copies are under 24-hour surveillance.

The sculpture is dressed up in a new costume every week according to a schedule posted near the fountain. The "changing of clothes" process is accompanied by music and is a colorful carnival ceremony. As expected, the fountain flows with ordinary water, but on special days, a simple mechanism connects it to a barrel of wine or beer.
