About

The Swan House was once a haven for butchers, who, like members of other guilds, aimed to locate their building as close to the city hall as possible. The house got its name from the sculpture of a swan that crowned its roof.

The facade of the building is quite narrow and decorated with gilded stucco and flowers. Massive statues that symbolize the craft of Meat Trade, Agriculture, and the Horn of Plenty welcome every tourist at the entrance. Nowadays, tours are often held here, and connoisseurs of fine dining visit the namesake restaurant - by the way, one of the best in Brussels.
