About

The Neo-Gothic style and architecture by Jakob Ceconi make St. Andrew's Church an unusual yet attractive place to visit not only for tourists but also for residents of Salzburg. Destroyed by fire and sword during the Second World War, the church was reborn thanks to the efforts of restorers, yet was "put into operation" and accepted by the citizens only at the second attempt. Today, the building features shortened towers and flat pyramid-shaped roofs, a facade painted in light grey, and a modern farmers' market sprawling around it. Now, every visitor can not only pray within the cold walls of the church but also taste the natural local produce, getting in touch with the city's history from an entirely different perspective.
