Palazzo del Arengo Palace in Rimini
About
Taking its origins in the 13th century, when the impatient and headstrong Modio de Carbonesi ruled the city, the Palazzo del Arengo palace became a true beacon and torch of the city-commune. Numerous renovations and reconstructions failed to shake the building's spirit of freedom, only strengthening its walls and restoring it to its former state by 1926. Adorning the Cavour Square with its presence, the palace erected a "crown" of frequent battlements on its top, which, due to their incredible resemblance, were nicknamed the "swallow's tail." The interior architecture is done in the traditional Italian style of the time, with painted columns and frescoes, the most famous of which bears the name "The Last Judgment," serving as a reminder of the punishment for the destruction of this beautiful place.
