About

Once the sole source of drinking water and after enduring many reconstructions, the "Pine Cone" fountain, whose shape perfectly imitates the pine cone of the Italian stone pine, is a favorite spot among locals and numerous tourists. Incidentally, it was the pine cone that appeared on the coat of arms of the famous legions of Caesar, whose glorious reign is commemorated by the luxurious bas-reliefs adorning the pedestal. At the foundation of this architectural marvel lies three basins of different diameters, stacked one upon another. The walls of the basins are complemented by memorial plaques engraved with historical dates somehow connected to the "Pine Cone".
