About

The abandoned missile base was inherited by the young Latvian republic after the unexpected collapse of the Soviet Union. Enterprising residents of Riga managed to make proper use of the military advantage that suddenly fell into their laps, offering tours of what was once a secret facility to tourists for a certain fee yesterday.

The modern missile base consists of 4 silos for launching deadly warheads, each reaching a depth of 35 meters, as well as a series of underground bunkers. The entire military potential has been partially flooded and destroyed, which doesn't stop curious tourists on their path to the unknown. The locals happily play the role of experienced guides, leading capital's visitors and sharing legends about the supposedly preserved missile fuel.

It is next to the water in a quiet large open area off the road, the buildings and retaining wall are covered in graffiti and overgrown weeds. Lots of debris on the grounds, but it is a place to park and enjoy the views or go fishing!
