One of the most beautiful streets in Krakow, Florianska, got its name from the Florian Gate, an ancient city entrance. The street spans just over three hundred meters, from the Church of St. Florian to the Main Market Square. The street was laid out in the city plan as early as 1257, but the first houses appeared here only about eighty years later. Over more than seven hundred years of its existence, the street has undergone numerous transformations. Initially, buildings were constructed in the Gothic style, but later on, homes were rebuilt under the influence of more recent architectural styles. Many of the incredibly beautiful houses are of interest to tourists both externally and internally, housing the Jan Matejko Museum and the famous "Jama Michalika" café.
