About

Just as all roads lead to Rome, so do all the streets of Old Krakow lead the traveler to the Main Market Square, which locals simply call "the market". This square is simultaneously a kind of "grand living room" and the pride of the Cracovians: it is one of the largest squares in Europe! The architectural layout of the square has been preserved from ancient times when Krakow was a major trading hub, frequented by Baghdad merchants and Saracens, European envoys, and monarchs. It is definitely worth a visit, as this place is home to a great many fascinating landmarks, such as the former Cloth Hall, St. Mary's Basilica, and the Town Hall Tower. Additionally, around the perimeter of the square are various cafes and ancient houses, each remarkable for its history.
