About

The castle is situated on the left bank of the Vistula River and has served as the residence of Polish kings since time immemorial. Its history is quite rich in various events. According to the results of archaeological excavations, it was concluded that the first fortifications on Wawel Hill appeared as early as the 11th century. The castle was repeatedly subjected to fires and destruction, but it was reconstructed each time. The latest restoration began in 1905 and continues to this day. To the left of the main entrance, a wall is adorned with numerous plaques indicating the amount of the donation and the name of the person or company that made it. Entry to the castle grounds is free, however, to visit various exhibitions and expositions, separate tickets must be purchased, and their quantity is limited.

Bardzo lubię to miejsce i wracam tu podczas każdego pobytu w Krakowie. Kupujemy bilety takie, jakie są dostępne na bieżąco i zawsze odkrywamy coś nowego.
