Matthias Church in Budapest
About
Matthias Church is part of the Buda Castle and concurrently a well-known Catholic temple in Budapest. It was precisely here that the coronation of Elizabeth and Franz Joseph took place.
Built in the late Gothic style, Matthias Church has survived not just one destruction and the subsequent reconstruction. In the building's architecture, one can notice a mixture of medieval elements and popular gothic style. The interior of the church is rich with colored stained-glass windows, wall paintings, mosaics, and numerous chapels with columns. The entrance to the temple is preceded by majestic wrought-iron gates, near which an 80-meter bell tower is located.
