About

Secretly stolen relics, divine providence, and the untamable marine element - the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas has occasionally been surrounded by mystical and unexplainable phenomena, turning it into a place of veneration for many Christians not only in Italy but also around the world. Designed "in the image and likeness" of many Catholic churches, the building still possesses its unique architecture. The exterior's unassuming grey brickwork and the skyward bell tower with a neat cross at the top give way to life-sized stained glass windows depicting martyrs and apostles inside. Beneath the huge wooden crucifix of the altar, on a throne, lies a silver reliquary containing the right hand of Saint Nicholas himself, who is revered as the protector and guardian of the city.
