About

On the shore of the River Arnon, amidst the green meadows and the shelter of trees, lies the Church of Saint Paul at the cliff. The architecture of the building follows all the canons of Romanesque style and is externally very similar to the famous Pisan Cathedral. The facade of the church is divided into two levels with marble trim and twisted columns.

Interestingly, the layout of the Church of Saint Paul at the cliff is in the form of a Latin cross with a traditional nave and apse. The interior is interspersed with colorful frescoes from the thirteenth century, and in the depth of the altar, an ancient sarcophagus is kept. Tourists visiting this place primarily note the unusual ceiling on rafters, perfectly preserved from time immemorial.

Chiesa di culto cattolico si trova sull’omonima piazza nei pressi del lungarno. Conosciuto come il duomo vecchio, al suo interno sul retro si trova la cappella di santa Agata. È stata riaperta nel 2019.
