About

Museo dell'Opera del Duomo in Pisa offers a delightful mix of art, history, and scenic views, ideal for a 1-2 hour visit. Its well-preserved masterpieces and original works from the cathedral and baptistery make it an essential stop for understanding the history of the Duomo and the city.

Children will feel welcome, and the great air conditioning provides a refreshing break from the summer heat. The terrace and cloister offer breathtaking views of the tower, and the museum's layout encourages an easy stroll through its exhibit rooms.

For an enriching experience, an audio tour is highly recommended to bring the history and exhibits to life. The museum is notably quiet on Sundays in July, allowing for a peaceful visit. The combo ticket option is excellent value, giving access to other monuments in the square.

While the café offers an extraordinary view of the tower, be prepared for high prices. Despite this, the overall experience is highly rated and considered a must-visit in Pisa.

I read before ariving to Pisa that it is a good idea to visit museum first before anything else on Piazza del Duomo. And boy was I glad I followed it. The Museo dell'Opera del Duomo was one of the best museums I've ever visited. It’s modern and perfectly showcases the rich history of the 12th to 14th centuries. Walking through it felt like stepping back in time, with incredible original artworks and sculptures displayed in a way that really brings the medieval and early Renaissance period to life. You get to meet all the great artists of those time, especially Giovanni Pisano, genious of Pisa. Love what he get out of stone.
