About

Myths speak of Romulus and Remus, who founded Rome and were nurtured by the very Capitoline She-wolf, which today stands frozen in bronze. Perhaps all of this is merely fiction, but the residents of Pisa firmly believe that it was with this silent sculpture that the history of the Eternal City began.

The monument is life-sized, standing exactly 75 centimeters tall. It is located between the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa and the cathedral of the same name, which is also the Cathedral. The she-wolf stands on a rectangular slab, which in turn is placed on a tall marble column. In this way, the architects wanted to demonstrate the grandeur of Rome, which has not dimmed over the years.

A quiet but powerful symbol of Roman heritage.

A striking bronze replica of the legendary she-wolf suckling Romulus and Remus, symbolizing the founding of Rome. Situated in the green expanse of Piazza dei Miracoli, near the Leaning Tower, this statue is often overlooked by tourists. Its presence adds a touch of ancient myth to the square’s architectural wonders. A brief but meaningful stop for those interested in Roman history.
