Palace Blu, or as it was known several hundred years ago, the Palace of Giulio Rosselmini Gualandi, is not famous for its architecture or unique collection of artifacts. Its main distinguishing feature is the bright blue stucco that covers the facade of the building, reminiscent of palaces in Saint Petersburg.

It is precisely this azure exterior that has made Blu a favorite among locals and tourists. The black window openings with neat brick arches look especially striking against the sky-blue background, attracting the wandering gaze. Today, Palace Blu serves as a center of culture and art in Pisa, housing paintings and sculptures by famous Italian masters.

Really worth the hype! 🖼️ The tickets are not expensive at all, and you get to see a lot of cool paintings and some artwork. I fell in love with the “Leisure Room”, it looked quite charming and cozy. I also liked the section they devoted to history of the first and second World Wars. We should always take some time to appreciate and remember the efforts that people put to dismantle fascism and dictatorships. I learned a lot thanks to this visit!

Visto qui la Mostra Razza Umana, foto di Oliviero Toscani. Tutto perfetto, allestimento molto semplice che metteva in risalto ogni singola foto. Splendida la saletta per vedere il video di una lunga intervista a Toscani. Unica pecca la signora alla biglietteria davvero poco gentile.
