Odessa Jewish History Museum
About
At the beginning of the last century, the Jewish community of Odessa was considered the third largest in the world, conceding the first and second places to New York and Warsaw. It is quite natural, therefore, that one of the most interesting museums of Jewish history operates in this Ukrainian city, having opened its doors in 2002.
At first glance, this place seems to be a typical, unremarkable apartment, consisting of eight rooms. However, if you take a closer look at its interior, it becomes apparent that every photograph, table, chair, and the various other household items are actually museum exhibits.
The Odessa Jewish History Museum boasts around 1,000 volumes on display for visitors. Far more, about 10,000 items, are gathering dust in the museum's collections. Each of the museum's exhibitions was assembled bit by bit, largely thanks to the contributions of concerned citizens and private collectors.
