Odessa became the first among the CIS countries to create a monument to Steve Jobs. Students and the rectorate of the State Academy of Technical Regulation of Quality, who initiated the sculpture's creation, did this in memory of the renowned founder of Apple. The monument is quite unusual by standard definitions. It features a human hand as the backdrop, with an apple - the symbol of Jobs' company - piercing through the palm. The hand itself also has a non-trivial structure, made from numerous metal machining parts welded together on a steel frame. The monument can be considered a collective creation since the materials for its construction were contributed by residents of Odessa.
