The Passage is the most majestic and beautiful architectural structure in Odessa, created by the Zhytomyr sculptor L.L. Vlodek. Throughout its history, and still today, the Passage has combined several functions. It is a hotel, a shopping complex, and a restaurant.

However, what gives the Passage its unique charm and distinction is the colorful mosaic on the ceiling at the entrance and the sculptures placed on the walls. Near the inscription with the name of the hotel complex, an angel and a lion proudly stand. Further at the entrance, one can encounter the ancient god Apollo and the goddess of abundance holding a sickle and hammer. Thus, the pre-revolutionary architecture of the building was attempted to be complemented with symbols of the working masses in Soviet times. Two more heroes of ancient mythological tales-Mercury and Fortuna, positioned under the very roof of the Passage, are captured in combination with symbols of the economic prosperity of the new era-a steam locomotive and a ship.

Не раз слышала, как Пассаж называют едва ли не самым грандиозным строением Одессы. Действительно, он поражает своей архитектурой. Построили его еще в начале прошлого века. Пассаж состоит из 2-х частей, между которых ажурное перекрытие из металла и стекла. С одной стороны имеется выход на Преображенскую улицу, с другой – на Дерибасовскую. Балконы в Пассаже украшают скульптуры прекрасных нимф, греческих богов. Между окнами можно разглядеть восхитительную лепнину в виде цветов.
