Deribasovskaya, at first glance, appears to be just an ordinary central street found in every major city of Ukraine. However, this impression is misleading when considering the number of legendary and historical events that have occurred here.

The foundation date of Deribasovskaya is 1804. Initially, it was called Gimnazskaya, as it was where Volsi's commercial educational institution was located, but it was later renamed after the city's founder and outstanding architect Jose de Ribas. Throughout changes in political powers, there were attempts to rename the street multiple times, but in the memory of Odessites, it has forever remained and continues to be known as Deribasovskaya.

Modern Deribasovskaya is a street with a cobblestone platform, unchanged since its arrangement. It is divided into two parts, one of which, only 1 km in length, is barricaded against the access of motor vehicles. Along the street, one can see a variety of small restaurants, hotels, shops where modern architecture coexists in an unusual way with historical landmarks. There are few monuments on Deribasovskaya, however, each one is interesting and unusual. These include monuments to De Ribas, the singer Leonid Utyosov, and the 12th chair, as well as a sculpture of a lion.

Дерибасовская улица всегда считалась визитной карточкой Одессы. Кроме того, это еще и главная пешеходная улица города, расположенная в самом центре. Сама по себе Дерибасовская улица – очень чистая и ухоженная. А еще вдоль нее расположены различные достопримечательности, магазины, уютные кафе и ресторанчики. Что не понравилось - огромное количество вывесок и рекламы. Но ведь это самое популярное место среди туристов, так что ничего не поделаешь….
