About

It's widely known that at one time, Odessa was notorious as a city of thieves, and smuggling here was a common affair. However, knowing that is one thing, but to hear real stories, amusing facts, and to see with your own eyes the methods used to hide something for the purpose of smuggling it out is quite another. The Smuggling Museum offers exactly this opportunity. A former military serviceman who founded it decided to show people both the items that were illegally transported through Odessa at various times and the various methods used to conceal them. Such a tour would be very enlightening for people of any age and gender, as it is imbued with a sense of adventure and a touch of romance.

The guide (a young man) was amazing, so knowledgeable and passionate, I felt I was part of/watching live a well produced TV show about the history of contraband. The museum is small, yet it tells an exciting and consistent story, with humor and objectivity. Really recommend it.
