Peeing Girl fountain in Brussels
About
It's unlikely that the sculptors of the famous "Manneken Pis" in the fourteenth century thought that five hundred years later, a parodic fountain of the female counterpart would emerge. Whether thanks to the liberal attitudes of Brussels or a great love for fountains, the "Peeing girl" has become just as popular among tourists as her older brother.
This unusual statue, only 50 centimeters tall, is located in a dead-end of the Loyalty alley and is secured with a grille for safety reasons. The sculpture has been attempted to be stolen, just as the "original" at the Grand Place has, so it is constantly under surveillance. The "Peeing girl" is made of blue-gray limestone and from a distance, it might seem bronze, which obviously attracts the interest of unscrupulous souvenir hunters.
