About

The majestic Cathedral of San Giorgio Maggiore towers over its namesake Venetian island. Inside, it is divided into three naves, each with 6 chapels. The main altar of the cathedral captures attention, especially with its sculpture of Christ standing on a sphere, supported by the evangelists. The interior is adorned with paintings by the artist Tintoretto, among them is "The Last Supper". Notably, tourists are even allowed to take photos inside the building. And while the cathedral itself impresses with its elegance and architecture, the greatest interest is in its bell tower, which stands 75 meters tall. Climbing it, one can enjoy the view of Venice. For a small fee, tourists can ascend to the very top of the viewing platform, the main thing is to make it back down before services begin. At that time, the bells start ringing, their sound heard beyond the island.

Great place, a bit far away from standard tourist routes. There is even a little modern art exhibition at the basilica. Unfortunately, the bell tower was closed for renovations.
