About

Nestled in the heart of Riga Old Town, Synagogue Peitav Shul stands as a well-preserved testament to architectural elegance and historical resilience. Designed by Wilhelm Neumann, this house of worship showcases a unique blend of Art Nouveau and Egyptian Revival styles, making it a visual delight in a city known for its architectural richness. Since its opening in 1905, Peitav Shul has not only served as a counterbalance to the predominance of Christian churches in the area but also as a poignant survivor of the Holocaust. With its daily services and a modest entrance fee, visitors can appreciate both its historical and spiritual significance. The synagogue consistently draws high praise, earning an average Google rating of 4.5, and continues to be a cherished attraction among Riga's stunning cathedrals and churches.

Synagogue Peitav Shul. Esta sinagoga foi construída por volta de 1905, foi uma das cerca de quarenta sinagogas que funcionavam na cidade antes do Holocausto.

one of the most beautiful synagogues you will ever see. a complete architectural marvel. they also offer a tour in english and it is only 3€. the only problem is if you are brown the tour guide may make racist jokes and ask for more money after the tour with a 'mandatory donation'
