About

The Daugavgriva Lighthouse, standing its eternal watch on the left side of the Daugava River, is often referred to by locals as the Dvina Estuary Lighthouse. Interestingly, during a mandatory census of all lighthouses, it was recorded in the register as "a small stone structure with a bonfire at the top."

Over the years, the lighthouse has undergone several reconstructions, rising again and again, like the mythical Phoenix. It survived the invasion of the German Kaiser's army, an explosion for strategic reasons, and the replacement of its wooden base with a reinforced concrete one - the Daugavgriva Lighthouse honorably passed each "test." Soon, not a trace remained of the small stone structure - in its place now stands a 30-meter tower equipped with a special fog signal, a radio beacon, and even a flashing light, replacing the bonfire once used.

Великолепные виды сглаживают усталость от долгой дороги пешком от парковки. Немного страшно идти по узкому балкону между водой внизу и забором с другой стороны к пирсу.
