About

The Church of Saint Martin Luther did not appear in Riga by chance. Back in the eighteenth century, the local residents did not have their own parish where they could take a break from worldly affairs and pray. It was then that the idea of building a spacious church, funding it from the budget, came about.

To appear does not mean it was built. Surprisingly, the church took its rightful place among Latvia's significant cultural monuments only a century later. Right after the architectural project was approved, not only was the Church of Saint Martin Luther built, but the surrounding area was also planted with trees, and every square meter of the adjoining land was meticulously improved. The exterior of the church turned out to be quite simple and succinct - a red brick facade, a single tower, and several balconies built into the building with traditional choirs.
