Madeleine Church in Paris
About
La Madeleine Church in Paris is often called a rather clumsy building, yet its historical and cultural value is indisputable. Its popularity is comparable to the renown of Notre-Dame de Paris and the Basilica of Sacré-Cœur. It frequently hosts wedding ceremonies and baptisms, and holds services on Sundays. Remarkably, the building is absolutely identical to the French National Assembly, essentially serving as its mirror image. After the defeat of Napoleon's army, the structure, which was meant to commemorate his glory, was almost turned into a train station. However, in 1845, the idea of building a church finally prevailed.
