About

The Élysée Palace has been the residence of French presidents for many years now. It stands as one of the gems within the Parisian palace complex. It was built in the first half of the 18th century by Parisian architect Armand-Claude Mollet at the request of Count d'Évreux. Their collaboration gifted France with one of the most beautiful and majestic country mansions. A bit later, the palace caught the attention of the royal family, and in 1753, Louis XVIII presented it as a gift to his favorite, Madame de Pompadour. Today, like many other buildings, it has transitioned into state ownership and serves as the residence of the top officials of France.
