Huesca

The compact historical center of an ancient Spanish town is situated on a hill surrounded by three streets: Cosco, Montearagon, and Joaquin Costa. At the top of the hill stands the 13th-century Cathedral with a Gothic facade and a unique alabaster altar. The Diocesan Museum's collection includes ancient books and religious artifacts.

In the northern part of the town, you'll find the Seminary building and the fortress complex Torreón del Amparo. The 12th-century Royal Palace is mentioned in the legend "The Bell of Huesca," where, by the king's order, twelve noblemen were killed.

During the Moorish period, the town was encircled by a fortified wall with 99 towers. Parts of the walls and the city gates can be found in the eastern part of the historical center near the bullfighting arena. The San Pedro el Viejo Monastery (12th century, Romanesque style) still holds the tombs of the first two kings of Aragon. The oldest shop in Spain, La Confianza, is located on Plaza Luis López Allué - the main festival square of Huesca.

After exploring Huesca, set off on a journey through the Aragonese Pyrenees. Dozens of routes are available for discovering the canyons, lakes, valleys, and biosphere reserves. Ride the longest zipline in Europe (950m) in Valle de Tena. Marvel at the red cliffs of Mallos de Riglos and the views from Miradores de Ordesa.
