Toledo

The historic center of Toledo is a true time machine; it is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The best place to begin exploring the historic center of Toledo is the bustling Plaza de Zocodover. From there, you can set off on foot in any direction or enjoy a pleasant ride on a tourist mini-train.

In Toledo, one must not hurry: the real treasures are hidden behind the facades of churches, monasteries, synagogues, and mosques. Peek into the charming courtyard of the Monasterio de San Juan de Los Reyes and stroll through the halls of the Convento de Santo Domingo el Antiguo.

A must-visit is the grand Toledo Cathedral with its magnificent Gothic facade. Inside, you'll find a golden monstrance and a gallery with paintings by Raphael, Caravaggio, El Greco, Velázquez, and Titian. The El Museo del Greco offers an interesting exhibition.

Enhance your experience with walks across two iconic bridges: the five-arched Puente de San Martin and the Puente de Alcántara, the longest in the Roman Empire with its six arches. Stunning views of the River Tagus, the old city, and the Alcázar can be enjoyed from the Mirador del Valle. After visiting the Military Museum in the Alcázar, it's pleasant to admire Toledo's streets from one of the many cafes.
