Málaga

A popular tourist city and the center of the Costa del Sol resort coast in the southwest of Spain. The swimming season runs from May to November, with almost no rain in the summer. All 16 beaches in Málaga have been awarded Blue Flags for cleanliness. The fine soft sand of the central La Malagueta beach was brought from the Sahara. In the evenings, ferries create high waves at La Misericordia beaches. Kite surfing enthusiasts choose Campo de Golf beach.

The main attractions of Málaga are concentrated in its historic center. Near the City Hall, you'll find a bullring, the ruins of a Roman theater, and a sprawling park with fountains and exotic plants. From the Moorish Alcazaba fortress, you can easily walk along the wall to Gibralfaro Castle and enjoy the panorama of the Strait of Gibraltar. The Marques de Larios Avenue is Málaga's shopping hub, a popular spot for street concerts, festivals, and Christmas markets.

Local museums showcase the works of Pablo Picasso, contemporary art, musical instruments, and automotive masterpieces. Hot summer days can be pleasantly spent in the Botanical Garden and "Palm Surprise" park, or on a sea excursion. The best marine activities in Málaga can be easily found at the cruise port.

From Málaga, tourists set off to explore the picturesque trails of the Torcal de Antequera National Nature Reserve and visit the famous Nerja Caves. For tours of the warm cities of Andalusia, the second half of spring and early autumn are the best times to visit.

On the streets, tourists are offered a taste of espetos - tiny grilled sardines on bamboo skewers. In Málaga's cafes and restaurants, dishes featuring tuna and shellfish are popular.

Málaga boasts excellent transportation links with all the resort towns of the Costa del Sol and significant tourist destinations in Andalusia. Trains from 17 Spanish provinces arrive at the main railway station. The international airport, with three terminals, receives flights from 48 airlines. A ferry service connects the city with the Spanish port of Melilla on the African coast.
