About

The Leopold Museum, founded in 2001, is located in the MuseumsQuartier of Vienna. It offers visitors hundreds of masterpieces of Austrian modernism, collected by Rudolf and Elisabeth Leopold. Being the most visited institution in the MuseumsQuartier, this place holds the world's largest and most significant collection of works by Egon Schiele, as well as masterpieces by Gustav Klimt. In addition, the Leopold Museum showcases unique exhibits from the Vienna Workshop of art, from Josef Hoffmann to Koloman Moser, considered unique masterpieces of global design history. The museum building, clad in white limestone, is constructed in a rectangular shape. Its entrance is adorned with a grand staircase, and the floors of the exhibition halls are laid with oak parquet.

Magnifique endroit avec des collections intéressantes. La muséographie est très bien réalisée, les explications à l’entrée de chaque salle sont riches et passionnantes.

If you're a fan of Schiele particularly, or other artists of that era, this is the place to go, except for Klimt. If that's who you especially want to see, then go to the Belvedere, both upper, and lower. Klimt is on show at the Leopold, but not the most iconic paintings.
