About

This museum is the most famous art museum in Vienna. Its construction was completed in 1889 along with the Museum of Natural History, and it opened its doors in 1891. The building is constructed in the finest traditions of the Italian Renaissance and features a 60-meter dome, while the interior of the museum is adorned with marble and plaster decorations. There are 91 halls where visitors can admire a collection of Eastern and Egyptian antiquities, as well as works of Western European sculpture and painting. The picture gallery is a true pride of the museum: it houses paintings by world-renowned artists from the Netherlands, France, Italy, England, and other countries.
