About

Although Torcello Island is located not far from Venice, it doesn't resemble the famous "City on the Water" at all. No more than a hundred people live here, even though in the past the island population exceeded 20,000 residents. Among the local attractions are temples, basilicas, and campaniles, including the oldest in the Venetian Lagoon, the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta. It was founded in the first half of the 7th century, yet the church still houses an intriguing ancient mosaic. Another point of interest for tourists is the Devil's Bridge - one of the two stone bridges in Venice that are without railings. The next remarkable site on the island is the Church of Santa Fosca, which serves as an example of the once popular Byzantine style in architecture. Nearby stands a bell tower, offering a stunning view of the Venetian Lagoon.

Una piacevolissima scoperta. Piccola isoletta, tranquilla e non presa d'assalto dai turisti

Isle calme et paisible. Très peur d'habitation et tourisme. Le trône d'Attila et son histoire est très intéressante. Restaurant qui convienne a l'Isle.
