About

St. Mark's Square is among the most significant historical monuments in Venice. It serves as the city's religious, cultural, and political hub. St. Mark's is divided into parts: the Piazzettas - small platforms, and the Piazza - the square itself. Interestingly, Napoleon even called St. Mark's Square "the finest drawing room in Europe." For centuries, the square has hosted endless carnivals, festive processions, and political gatherings. Important Venetian landmarks tower around its perimeter, such as the Doge's Palace with St. Mark's Basilica. They are accompanied by the Correr Museum, the Clock Tower, and the stunning Giardinetti Reali gardens. Days on end, one can hear orchestral music, which can be enjoyed over a cup of coffee in one of the cafes on St. Mark's. The square also hosts designer boutiques and souvenir shops.
