Between the cliffs of Mönchsberg and Festungsberg, near the Salzach River, lies the majestic and contemplative Old Town, as if having dozed off for a moment, yet having slept for hundreds of years. Through the cobblestone Getreidegasse, hundreds of locals and tourists frequently scurry, rushing towards the city's Town Hall and slowing their pace near atmospheric cafes with gilded signs. It is here, in the house numbered nine, that the famous Mozart Museum is located, from where the sounds of his immortal "Requiem" can still be heard. While wandering through the Jewish and Gold streets, don't forget to peek into the Salzburg Cathedral and visit the impregnable Hohensalzburg Fortress, towering above all the beauties of the old and esteemed city.
